The City of Fall River is named for the picturesque falls of the nearby river. It was  incorporated in 1880.  Nestled in the green and hilly part of Kansas that so many don't know about, Fall River enjoys the beauty and variety of all four seasons. Its people work to foster a safe, peaceful, and healthy small-town environment for children and adults of all ages and varied interests.  Good schools and medical facilities are nearby, and shopping opportunities abound within an hour's drive.  The City is surrounded by ranches and farms and is home to Flint Oak, an internationally known hunting, shooting, and fishing resort.

Fall River State Park is just four miles south.  There, 980 acres offer modern utility campsites, hiking, birding, canoeing on the Fall River, and other outdoor activities.

The State Park is adjacent to the Fall River Dam and Lake, built and operated by the U.S. Corps of Engineers for flood control and water management.  The Lake is a mile wide at the damsite and stretches 15 miles up the Fall River. Visitors enjoy utility and primitive campsites, hiking, biking, fishing, birding, hunting, water sports, and other outdoor activities.  More than 8,000 acres are managed for some 400 bird, game, and non-game species, such as dove, quail, deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, waterfowl and prairie chicken.
The City of Fall River becomes a much larger place on the third weekend in September.  That's when it has provided fun, entertainment, and Free Barbecue for more than 50 years.  We hope to see you there this year!
